Death And Legacy of Francis Marion
American Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion died on February 27, 1795 at Orange Burg County, South Carolina. He died at age 63 from a mixture of bladder problems and old age.
All heroes and leaders leave behind something for everyone when they die called a legacy. Francis Marion also left behind a legacy of hope for everyone. He escaped from the most dangerous situations by using the strengths that come with a small force, and the use of stealth and speed. While Francis Marion was never the strongest or smartest in adolescence or even in adulthood, he still used his light-built stature to his advantage. He advanced up to Brigadier General and did so by leading forces of 50 men through the swamps and past enemy lines to achieve one goal. To drive the British out of South Carolina, and he did achieve this goal. |
